In August of 1986, a jam session was held at Wolter Park in Akron. At that session a sign-up sheet was circulated to a large crowd to determine how much interest there was to form a club. Sam Crano and Matt Schafer decided to put together a polka club. The first meeting was held at the Portage Lakes Eagles. Matt Schafer was elected President, Sam Crano Vice president, Diane Degasperis, Secretary, Paul Halverstadt, Treasurer.

The first sponsered dance was held Mother's Day, May 10, 1987. All meetings were held at the German-American club until the club was closed.

Currently the ABC Polka Association meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of every month at the F.O.P.A., Wolder Part at 2610 Ley Drive in Akron..
